Dublin Mountains Initiative Announces Dublin Mountains Half Marathon – ‘Run With Jerry Kiernan!!’

The Dublin Mountains Initiative in association with The Dublin Mountains Partnership is pleased to announce the inaugural Dublin Mountains Half Marathon, known as the Dublin Mountains Plod, to take place on July 18th.

The race starts and finishes in Marlay Park, and the course winds up Tibradden & Cruagh Lanes into Massy's Wood, across to Cruagh and along the Dublin Mountains Way to Tibradden Mountain and then along the Wicklow Way back to Marlay. Most of the route is along scenic forest roads and trails.

The race will be started by Irish Olympian and twice winner of the Dublin Marathon, Jerry Kiernan. Asked about the race Jerry said: "There have been great improvements made in the Dublin Mountains over the last few years and this event is a terrific opportunity for people of all abilities to get out there and enjoy themselves. Speaking as someone who still trains every week in the Dublin Mountains it is simply a wonderful place to be with amazing views down over our city."

Race organiser, Justin Rea, was keen to emphasise that the event is aimed at people of all abilities. He said: "We want everyone to feel that they can take part in this event – from keen hill runners to those who just wish to walk the course and take in the views. This is a day out for all the family."

Entries are still open and can be made online at the Dublin Mountains Partnership www.dublinmountains.ie
