02 Mar 2015: posted by the editor - Events, Music, Local, Ireland

Community Musician Ray Laffan is presenting ‘gentle’ six week course A practical guide on taking the first steps towards creativity in Limerick City from Saturday 26 March to Saturday 24 April.

Voice, Rhythm and Music are embedded in the fibres of our being for thousands of years, it has and remains a powerful means of expression. Sound and music that we emit are expressions from our ‘CORE’ our center being. This becomes even more powerful in the context of group expression and the use of music in a group context.

Community Music workshops aim to facilitate the expression and creativity that comes from group music-making. Listening, hearing, harmony, rhythm, voice, instrument, can all be integrated to enable group music making whereby the individuals expressive and creative abilities are enhanced and encouraged within that creative space. You will enjoy this journey back to your very core.

There is no requirement for any previous musical experience.

The course classes will be held at the Limerick Writer's Center, 12 Barrington Street, each Saturday between 11.30am—12.30pm.

Raymond Laffan has a Masters in Community Music from the World Academy of Music and Dance University of Limerick and has worked with groups of all ages and backgrounds engaging in and facilitating Community Music Workshops.

Places must be paid for in advance. Course fee €60.00 concession €55.00.
