The Two Phils
Philip 'Scally' Scanlon has been known around the Limerick music circles for some years. He has been shortlisted among songwriters submitting entries for an Irish World Cup song. Married with one daughter, he dreams of constructing his own in-house recording studio to continue his song writing career.
He is well known around the streets of Limerick as a walk with him almost anywhere in the city will prove. After penning Footsteps of a Stranger he teamed up with Limerick composer Philip Rafferty.Phil Rafferty has also been active in music for some time, writing songs around both guitar and keyboard and as a member of various gigging bands. Unassuming and hard working, Phil also is working to build upon and develop his musical abilities and interests. After drafting out the song, the two Phils then joined up with the then 18-year-old singer Greg Ryan, busy forging his own singing career and in 2001 voted Ireland's Young Pop Singer of the Year in a national radio poll.

Styling himself as a boy band singer—Greg has schooled himself to be able to give a polished on-stage performance and to maintain a dignified presence, as his rendition of Footsteps of a Stranger at the St Augustinian Church 11 September 2002 service revealed. He began singing the song from the back of the aisle, walking slowly down to and onto the altar where he completed the song to a packed congregation that included Limerick city dignitaries and representatives from New York.
