“It’s an ideal time coming up to 2016 celebrations to find a motto that cherishes all the citizens of Dublin equally as was the aspirations in the Proclamation.

“It would be interesting to have a discussion among school children, residents associations and other groups in the city about the kind of city they want.

“Most other cities have updated their motto. A lot has changed in our attitudes and values  over the past 400 years. I proposed a change in 1990’s but at that stage our city mothers and fathers were not for changing.  Let’s hope I will be more successful this time.”
