By David Swanson When Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced 35 articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush on June 9, 2008, the 35 had been selected from drafts of nearly twice that many articles. President Obama has accumulated his own massive list of high crimes and misdemeanors that were unavailable for Bush's list (thing's like openly murdering U.S. citizens, launching massive drone wars, selectively and abusively prosecuting numerous whistleblowers as spies, holding Bradley Manning naked in isolation, attacking Libya without so much as bothering to lie to Congress, etc.).

Single parents unite to fight budget cuts

This week Minister Joan Burton will send to thousands of one parent families a letter to review existing one-parent claimants. As 65% of the poorest children in Ireland live in one parent households, this letter will terrify many single parents. The budget cuts for 2012 discriminated against single parents with mulitiple cuts. Single parents across Ireland on social media have been organising, and have set up a campaign SPARK to oppose these cuts. A protest is called by SPARK for February 18th at 2pm, meeting at the Garden Of Remembrance. Minister Burton attacked single parents, as they were seen as an easy target. She underestimated angry parents, and they will continue to protest and campaign to highlight her discrimination, and demand a reversal of the cuts that will inflict poverty for thousands of lone parents.

New €1m energy research projects as part of government-supported centre

Projects include exploring use of wireless networks to control building heating systems  The Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte T.D., and the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton T.D., have announced the approval of the first two projects as part of the government-supported International Energy Research Centre.

Participating are members of the Japanese House of Councilors, of the Okinawa Prefectural Assembly, and of city governments in Okinawa, as well as leading protest organizers and the heads of several important organizations opposed to the ongoing U.S. military occupation of Okinawa.
