On the Nail Literary evening

Graham Allen and Joe Sweeney are the guest authors at the next The Limerick Writers' Centre  'On the Nail' Literary Gathering on Tuesday 2 Dec 2014 at The Loft Venue, The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick.

Graham Allen is a Professor in The School of English, UCC. His collection 'The One That Got Away' (2014) and his epoem 'Holes' are published by New Binary Press. He won the 2010 Listowel Single Poem Prize and has been shortlisted for The Crashaw Prize (2013) and the Fool for Poetry Prize (2014). Joseph Sweeney was born in Dublin and graduated from UCD with an honours Master's Degree in Anglo Irish Literature in 1983. He was a teacher of English and French (and Good Manners, though not in that order) for many years, until becoming a full time writer in 2007. He writes both serious and humorous fiction and has been the recipient of various literary awards including two first prizes from Listowel Writers' Week. He was awarded a first prize in the Cross National Short Story Competition adjudicated by Brendan Kennelly.

He was shortlisted by RTE and published in their short story anthology, A Page In The Life , which was also broadcast and recorded on CD. He was shortlisted for a Hennessy Award, and by Readers' Digest for a flash fiction in 2012. His work has appeared in the From The Well short story anthology, 2014, the New Irish Writing Page, Orbis, The Cork Yule Book, and the Sligo Champion.

Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers . Even if you don't write you are welcome to bring something along to read. The night begins at 8.00pm and admission is free. So join us on the night and make this event something special.
