Rory Gallagher was born on 2nd March 1948 at the very aptly named "Rock Hospital" in the town of Ballyshannon in County Donegal, where almost from the start he was destined for great things. The12th Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival takes place between Thursday 30th May and Sunday 2nd June 2013 in Ballyshannon with thousands of Rock 'n Blues music fans set to converge on the town from some 20 different countries for what will be a special Failte Ireland Gathering Festival with the theme "Failte Isteach Rock".

Five bands are to play at Raggle Taggle in downtown Limerick, as the final event before this arts and culture space closes. The music is scheduled to start at 8pm on Saturday 18 May 2013. Entry is €5 at the door.

The 2013 National Famine Commemoration took place in Frances Street,  Kilrush, County Clare on Sunday, 12th May 2013. President Michael D Higgins lead the official representation at the commemoration ceremony accompanied by Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
