Ireland's reputation as an innovation hub has been given a boost by the introduction of a fast-track scientific visa, according to a new survey of internationally mobile researchers. Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science launched the findings of the survey at the Irish Presidency conference on Researcher Careers and Mobility held in Dublin Castle.
EU bans neonicotinoid pesticides to protect honey bees

The EU has implemented a ban on neonicotinoid pesticides after studies revealed they were damaging to honey bees. The ban was agreed after France, Germany, Spain and 12 other countries voted Yes but Italy, the UK and six others voted No, while four countries, including Finland and Greece, abstained.
