Ireland is playing an important part in helping the EU meet it targets for the creation of high-value jobs according to Minister for Research and Innovation, Sean Sherlock TD. The Minister was speaking at a conference in Dublin Castle, hosted by the Irish Presidency of the EU, on Researcher Careers and Mobility to focus on measures to ensure the free movement of researchers and knowledge across Europe.

European Court of Auditors plays vital role in improving EU accountability and bolstering public confidence in the institutions that Europe has built, - Minister for Small Business John Perry said at the official inauguration of the new building of the European Court of Auditors. The Single Market has been the engine driving growth in the EU economy over the last two decades and the Accounting Directive and the Unified Patent Court will reduce the administrative burden on small and medium-sized enterprises, he said.

The EU has implemented a ban on neonicotinoid pesticides after studies revealed they were damaging to honey bees. The ban was agreed after France, Germany, Spain and 12 other countries voted Yes but Italy, the UK and six others voted No, while four countries, including Finland and Greece, abstained.
