Katy
Daly’s — Castle
Street, Limerick
For a bar that carries the
purported reputation of being Limerick’s oldest pub,
this establishment must be hell bent on maintaining
Limerick’s
renowned reputation
for permitting inhospitality to flourish within its licensed
premises.
A visit during the early evening on 6th
June 2007 brought nothing more than the comment ‘I
won’t
serve you here’ from the barmaid to my friend when
he opened the door. No explanation—just plain inhospitality.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

‘Nancy Blake's’ — Denmark
Street, Limerick, Ireland
For a pub that boasts its friendliness and traditional Irish
welcome, Nancy Blake's is sadly a total contradiction of terms
and is a place that is currently under poor management.
It has excellent traditional music sessions and has a back bar
that doubles as a dance music spot, but the attitude
of the current management is one that is of disgust to
this writer.

‘The Eagle’ — Coggeshall
Road, Braintree, Essex, UK
Having
visited this bar on a previous occasion
and found it welcoming and friendly, I decided to walk the
few hundred yards from my home to watch the World
Cup 2006 second place playoff between Germany and Portugal.
It seems that some people cannot bide someone who minds their
own business. The stupid old pratt who runs this establishment
should be hounded out of the trade after he decided to threaten
me with a baseball bat.
