It offers debates and engagements, contexts and controversies, and reviews and responses flowing from the African Arguments books. It is edited and managed by the International African Institute, hosted at SOAS University of London, the owners of the book series of the same name. The festival is being attended by about one thousand students from across the region and features football, volleyball, basketball, drama, painting, poetry, and general knowledge competitions. Festival of Orotta College of Medicine and Health Science Students[Shabait] The 12th festival of students from the Orotta College of Medicine and Health Science, which had been underway for six months under the theme "Our Profession for Our Society", has concluded. The closing event was attended by Dr. Haile Mihtsun, Executive Director of Higher Education Institutions and Research, and Mr. Saleh Ahmedin, Head of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students. Berik Sub-Zone Declared Free of Female Genital Mutilation[Shabait] Asmara -- Berik sub-zone in the Central Region was officially declared free of female genital mutilation (FGM) on 30 April during a ceremony held under the theme "With Coordinated Effort - Avoid Female Genital Mutilation." Asmara School of Assistant Nurses Graduates 348 Students[Shabait] Asmara, 07 May 2025 - The Asmara School of Assistant Nurses, located in Adi-Halo, graduated 348 students, including 84% female graduates, at a ceremony held today at the Expo Compound. The students received both theoretical and practical training over the course of 18 months. International Workers' Day Observed in Anseba Region[Shabait] - International Workers' Day, 1 May, has been enthusiastically observed in Keren at the Anseba Region level on 28 April under the theme "Productivity by Conscious Participation." Call for Coordinated Effort to Enhance Participation and Productivity[Shabait] - At an event organized at Gash Barka region level to mark International Workers Day, a call was made for workers to strengthen their participation and productivity. The event was organized on 27 April at Shemshomia, Laelay Gash, under the theme "Productivity through Conscious Participation." Seminar On Eliminating Harmful Practices[Shabait] - The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare branch in the Dige sub-zone conducted a seminar focused on protecting children's rights and eliminating harmful practices, particularly female genital mutilation and underage marriages, which negatively impact the psychological and physical well-being of women and children. The seminar was attended by local administrators, village elders, and development partners. International Workers Day Observed in Southern Region[Shabait] - International Workers Day was commemorated in Mendefera on 29 April at the Southern Region level. The event featured a parade by government employees and included various programs highlighting the contributions of workers. African Immunization Week Observed Nationwide[Shabait] Asmara, 30 April 2025- African Immunization Week 2025 was observed at the national level today at the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers hall under the theme "Immunization for All is Humanly Possible." How Nigeria, Eritrea, Ethiopia Are Becoming Key FDI Sources for Rwanda[New Times] African countries Nigeria, Eritrea, and Ethiopia stood out among the top ten sources of Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in Rwanda in 2024, contributing over $464 million in FDIs. |
